Will my insurance cover the full cost?
In most cases, insurance contributes towards the fee but does not cover it in full.
Reimbursement levels vary depending on your policy. Any difference between your insurer’s reimbursement and the consultation fee is payable by you.
This is very common in private healthcare and ensures you still receive specialist, high-quality care.
How do I check what my insurance covers?
Before booking, we recommend contacting your insurer and asking:
Do I have outpatient dietetic cover?
How many sessions am I entitled to?
What is the reimbursement amount per session?
Do I need a referral or pre-authorisation code?
This helps avoid any unexpected costs.
Do I need to pay upfront?
Yes — consultations are typically paid in full, and you can then claim reimbursement from your insurer.
This keeps the process simple and avoids delays in your care.
Can you bill my insurance directly?
In some cases, yes. However:
Not all insurers allow direct billing
Any shortfall remains your responsibility
If a claim is declined, the fee is payable by you
We’ll guide you through the best option based on your policy.
What happens if my insurance doesn’t cover it?
You’re still very welcome to proceed as a self-paying client.
Many clients choose to continue privately to get the level of support they need — especially for complex or long-standing gut issues.
Please note
Coverage varies depending on your policy
Any excess or shortfall not covered by your insurer remains your responsibility.
